Day 5 - 03 June 2010

Another nice and easy start - 9:30.
Headed off to breakfast and as we may not be stopping for lunch I had a nice big one :)
(that's my excuse and i'm sticking to it)
In with Todd today.
On the road by 11:00 and heading off to the Nebraska / South Dakota border.
That's the best area according to the models at the moment - Todd is constantly re-evaluating the conditions and there will be destination changes throghout the day until he spots something to chase - even if it's 200+ miles away!!
He certainly doesn't want to short change us with regards to what is out there and reachable.
We stopped off on US 83 in Nebraska for a quick photo break as the countryside was astounding.
I have a BIG version of this image - contact me if you'd like a copy
We chased a storm for most of the day just inside South Dakota that looked like it had great potential and it just dissipated as another that also seemed to have potential crept up behind it.
This second storm looked very severe on the radar images, but again turned out to be almost nothing.

On the way back to the hotel, Todd stopped and allowed us to photograph the passing storm as it was putting on a nice lightning show for us. This allowed me to play with my new "lightning strike" camera trigger; 5 camera rolls later it was time to go.
This was just north of Norfolk, Nebraska where we were due to stay for the night.
(these were all taken from the same location and in low light - just different exposure times)
558 miles today (2648 to date).
